First before applying , you should be aware if the eligibility criteria  then you might be able to find your answer.

Here it is:

For SX stream:

1) Candidates studying in 10+2 can apply under this stream. They must score 60% in the 12th Board exam (50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates)

2)Selected students fellowship will be activated only when they join an UG programme in Basic Science (B.Sc/BS/B.Stat./B.Math./Int.M.Sc/MS) in the academic year 2020-2021

3).According to KVPY eligibility criteria 2018, Candidates must secure minimum 75% marks in class 10 while SC/ST/PwD candidates have scored 65% in aggregate of all Science subjects and Mathematics



Now , if you give your improvement exams in 2019, that will held around  in July and result will come around August or September. If you apply for KVPY in july , then you have to fill the details of your 12th and you would not be eligible for applying as per elegibility  criteria because student must have passed with 60% in boards for gen category and 50% for other category. And if you get increment in your score and then discrepancy in details in future procedure may create problems for you.



Now here, you have to work smartly. Last date of application is last week of August. In my opinion, you will get your improvement results till then. I would recommend you to apply after getting results.
