It's ok, nothing to worry about.
Your rank in JEE Main is the deciding factor to take admission in NITs. But there are many other good private universities and institutes where you can take admission like BITS, VIT, SRM etc. These are the top ranking private institutes and are well equipped with good infrastructure, good education and faculty, etc. Their industry collaboration and placements also count amoong the best when it comes to private colleges.
You also have option to go for State Government Engineering Colleges, if you are appearing for their entrance exams. Even they will provide you opportunity staying in your domicile state while pursuing your studies.
For a good career in engineering doesn't mean that one that should be an IITian , NITian. It depend very much on your hard work supplemented with smart work and passion to fulfil your dreams. While doing your engineering, you will get lot of free time. Make sure to convert that leisure time into quality time and make full use of all the opportunities you will get to achieve your goal. There are good growth opportunities in India as it is an open economy with many MNCs. Indian engineers are also in great demand in USA and other countries.
I would also like to suggest that if you have time then drop one year and prepare for JEE, may be you will be successful.
Best of luck
AND if you are passionate about engineering and know in which domain you have work in future then try harder and make your concepts strong.
hi debojyoti,
ist of all dont get upset over you jee main score. i dont know whether it is your ist attempt or second. however during counselling obc candidate cutoff will be slightly lower than general candidate. so you may got a chance to join a good college. but keep it in mind before selecting a college, that you have to stay four years in that college. and your future career will be decided from it. so do mgood research about the college, their infrastucture and also check previous years placement record. hope it helps.
It's ok if you didn't score good in jee. If you wanted to engineering then you can go for any good university like amity, srm, and others they conduct their owen entrance exams. In case if you will persue engineering from any private college or university then you have another opportunity for you good future which is GATE exan which is compulsory for every enggenring students after graduation . If you score well enough then you can go for job in psu and you will have opportunity to pursue Master's in iit's or nits.
Hope this will help you.
Good luck for future.
