Deepanshu, you haven't mentioned whether you belong to Delhi region or not. This is important because the cut offs are different for both Delhi and non Delhi students.
In 2019, a rank of 107734 scored a seat in DTU for a seat within Delhi region. For a seat outside Delhi region, the cut off rank was 12957. This data is for OBC Category.
Now this is 2019 data and cut offs change every year depending on various factors such as no.of Candidates appearing for the exam, no.of Candidates qualified, no.of Candidates appearing for the exam, previous trends and difficulty of the exam.
Now, lets look at your prospects with 79.58 percentile.
To caculate your rank with the help of your percentile, we should use the formula:
(100-your total percentile)*869010/100. Going by this formula, your rank will be 177451. Now this is for January session. If the no.of Candidates appearing for JEE Mains April session is increased to 12,00,000 then your final rank is calculated using the formula: (100 - your total score) X 12,00,000/100.
You might find it difficult for a seat in DTU with this rank and so you may have to appear for April session. Even if you plan on appearing for JEE Advanced, you should still appear for April session because the expected cut offs for JEE Advanced are 85 and above.
