I had applied for neet this year 1st time and I want to know tht wat is the meaning of cutoff and what is the role of securing marks may 400 450 or 520. and What is tht the percentile 50 40 and. the main question is tht was is the minimum score to be scored by minority students for get mbbs

Hi Nizam,

Cutoff: It is the score which helps you get a seat in medical college. For eg: if your score is 500 and college A cutoff is 400 and college B cutoff is 520 then you will be eligible for a medical seat in college A and not in college B.

Percentile: It is a way to divide population. Here population is the total number of applicants for the exam. 50 percentile means that that you have performed better than 50% of the population. This percentile qualifies you for counselling but it could not be guaranteed that you'll get a seat.

Minimum qualifying marks varies every year depending upon the number of applicants, number of seats sanctioned and the overall performance of the candidates.
