I have Applied for EWS certificate but it will take some time(due to elections busy) So what should I do while applying for M.Tech in IITs?
Hello Harshit,
As per the notification released by the NTA regarding economical weaker section quota (EWS) only general candidate(whose family income below 8 lpa) are able to get benefits during the seat allocation by Jossa counseling. This means that students belonging to the EWS category will have 10% of the total seats alloted to general category students reserved for them. They will benefit as they will be able to compete for both the general category seats as well as the EWS category seats where the competition will be less.
The admissions to M.Tech programs in IITs are done through the GATE exam followed by COAP counselling.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level post-graduate entrance exam that is jointly conducted by the seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for admission to M.Tech programmes offered by government as well as many private institutes.
GATE 2019 was organized by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in online mode on February 2, 3, 9 and 10, 2019.
COAP is conducted by IITs (IIT Madras in 2019) to facilitate admissions of aspirants in M.Tech programs of IITs. The candidates after applying to the IITs of their choice on the basis of the GATE scores, have to necessrily apply for COAP.
As for your question, you should upload that undertaking letter given by the tahsildar and carry it with you while reporting for admission to the alloted IIT.
