Yes, You can go for any domain of MBA. Infact people do MBA sometimes to change their domain from technical to management. Go ahead, find your interest and prepare well!

It is perfectly fine for an engineer to opt for Finance majors. Trust me, every year, no matter what institute it is, there is a significant number of engineers, who pursue Finance specialisation (one reason being almost 80+% of MBAs are engineers). Selection of majors is totally dependent on the interest of a person. One of my friends at IIM Kashipur is a mechanical engineer and still he has successfully cleared 2 levels of CFA (in single attempt).

So don't worry about it and instead i would advise you to start researching/Learning the basics of accounting and finance before you join the course. A lot of students, including those who have a liking for Finance while joining, find Finance as their biggest Nightmare as it is a little tough for most of the batch.

All the best!

Surely you can go for a management in finance. Your interest in the domain matter. Companies coming for placements will judge your interest and knowledge about the domain.

Yes definitely you can do major in any stream including financial management while pursuing MBA degree from any college. There is no restriction on you to pick up any stream in MBA becuase of your graduation background.

As you don't have any prerequisite knowledge about finance so you might face a little difficulty in starting but if you pay a proper attention then you will ve able to catch up very soon with other students who had already studied a little about it because of their commerce background.

Also there is a CFA exam conducted in 3 levels. If you really want to excel in finance department and stand out from other students then I will recommend you to prepare for it properly and clear it's levels.

For MBA there are different exams like CAT, XAT GMAT, IIFT, MAT, SNAP, NMAT, CET whose scores are valid for different colleges. Scores of CAT and XAT are widely used by different colleges for admission of new students.

As less than 2 months are left for CAT exam so quickly brush up with your basics and give up lots of mock test and analyse them which will help you in overcoming your mistakes and come up with a strategy to attempt your paper which will definitely help you in improving your marks and percentile.

All the best for your preparations and exams!!
