Hi! Firstly, congratulations! You are studying in one of the best engineering colleges of India. Getting a bright future is a very subjective question, as you have got the perfect foundation, now that you are in an IIT.
Last year, approximately 80-85% people got placed in several of the top companies in India. The average package offered is usually 8.5-10 lacs per annum, which is huge compared to other colleges offering Mechanical Engineering too. Many of the top companies like Infosys, Microsoft etc., come for the campus placements and offer jobs, so rest assured, only the best companies come at IITs for placements. For more information, I have given a link for all types of placement related information about IIT Delhi-

Now, even though the cope of Mechanical is not as much as CS, it is still relevant in the the design, manufacturing, maintenance and testing of such machinery and equipment, especially in the automobile industry. But as a core field, due to new fields in this area, like renewable energy, automobiles, quality control, Industrial Automation, Mechanobiology, there is still plenty of job opportunities out there.
The most important thing, as always, is to work and study hard. Just being in an IIT is only winning half of the battle . The rest half depends on how well you study and suceed in IIT, on the basis of which you will get good placements in the future. So, study hard, stay motivated, get a good CGPA, and get the best placements in the future!
All the best!
