Yes, you can take part in union Public service examination (UPSC) exams even when you are from  commerce stream. Mentioned below are the key details related to UPSC eligibilities:

Hello Shraddha,

Yes as a commerce student you can take part in UPSC Exam.

You need to be a degree holder in1-2-3-4-5 year term graduation course, then you are eligible for UPSC Exam.

The main subjects for PAPER 1 will be :

  • Accounting
  • Finance Accounting
  • Taxation
  • Auditing

The main subjects for PAPER 2 will be:

  • Organisation theory and behaviour
  • Human resource management
  • Industrial relation organisation

Yes, obviously a commerce student can appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination which is conducted by UPSC once every year. You have to meet other eligibility criterias as well :

Educational qualification :You should have a bachelor degree in any stream from recognized university.

Age :-
Minimum age - 21 years.
Maximum allowed - 30 years .

Yeah! You are eligible for UPSC examination. The UPSC examination has basic eligibility criteria that the student must be a graduate in subject/stream. Also don't think that you will have any disadvantage for the examination. This is a myth and many people use to think that the arts students are more advantageous to UPSC. But its not true, to score good in UPSC you have to prepare well for UPSC. Now if you are in class 12 then get admission in your college in any course of your choice and start the preparation for your UPSC from the 2nd year of UG (this is the most preferable time, many student also start preparing just after 12). Now you can join coaching or you may not  but the thing you must have is that you should be highly motivated about the job, you should be persistent and you should be punctual. If you can master this three skills then you will have solved the preparation puzzle for upsc by 60%. The remaining 40% is all about preparation.
