India has a great scope as far as Petroleum Engineering is concerned in both Public and Private Sector. Once you complete your B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from NIT, you may pursue a M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering from some of the Top IITs like Bombay, Kharagpur, Roorkee or IIT ISM.

However, Chemical Engineering too has a great scope in Petroleum Sector with Companies like IOCL, BPCL, ONGC, Reliance, Schlumberger, Halliburton, ExxonMobil, Shell and HPCL. Hence, you may try for Placement Opportunities after B.Tech On or Off Campus or perhaps through GATE, as well as great prospects in Countries in the Middle East.
