hi,
see artificial intelligence and robotics is combination of electronics and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, so if you want to work in core department, then you may have to do mtech after b.tech which is high career growth and wide research area options, now coming to chip design you may do some hands on experience while doing btech in electronics and communication engineering, since there is many software related with ece , and vlsi technology subject is taught in 3rd year of electronics and communication engineering course. so taking ECE would be right for you as per your interest.
hey,
if you want to design chips and processor then i would recommend you to opt electronics and communication branch, because this branch offers a huge study about chips and processors, there is a subject which you will study in either 3 semester or 4 semester that is mircoprocessor and another subject computer organization and architecture, study these subjects in depth , these will be so helpful for your future .
however there are also many other subjects which provide depth knowledge of same.
hope this helps!
