Hi friend,

From my experience i can say that getting 99 percentile in CAT is not an easy job. Since each year CAT exams comes with new challenges. As well as attempting everything isnt its style since it has negative marks. Maybe after 2 or 3 years experience of writting CAT examination and well preperation you can achieve your goal.

I wish you goodluck!

CAT is not about knowing everything and attempting everything. CAT is about attempting what you know and having accuracy greater than 80% in whatever selective you attempt. For that you need to practice a lot of questions. The more you practice , the more you get acquainted about various types of questions , and the better you can strategise about what to attempt and what not to.

To give a more straightforward approach , CAT is all about selection . It's about getting those 180 marks in CAT that would fetch you 99% which is a decent score unless you want 100%. So , it's all about getting just those 180 marks , which is equivalent to solving 60 questions correct out of the 100. Consequently , it's all about leaving the questions which you don't know and attempting what you are best at.

Doing all this , you will definitely get a good score. Hope the answer helps you.

All the best!

First go through the entire syllabus..its a exam determined by percentile and its vary year to year..so before preparing u have to set in ur mind that in exam u don't need to attend all the questions...u just need to focous to answer 50% with 100% accuracy..and it is the hidden tricks to get a 99%tile...even it carries negative markings..u need to taken care of this one ..in fact it is the exam of not aptitude it is the exam of attitude and presence of mind...never judge anything before the real...I hope it will help...if u want further information then u can ask me without any hesitation!!!

Hi

You have approx 8 months for this CAT. Let us see the things that you can do by spending approx 180 minutes everyday and with 24 hours per week of study.

1. Read a newspaper online daily. It can done in your spare time. It could be The Hindu or Firstpost. You can also read selective articles from NYTime or Washington Post. Also start Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis.

2. Start watching lectures online. The website of EduSaathi can help you in that. Watch videos of all topics sequentially and solve questions. This will help you to get your basics correct.

Continue the above two steps for 2 months. For self study, you can also go for the following books,

For Quant, you can go for either Arun Sharma or Nishith Sinha or Quantum CAT by Sarvesh Verma.

For LRDI, you can go for Arun Sharma or Nishith Sinha.

For Verbal Ability, you can look for Arun Sharma & Meenakshi Upadhaya.

For updates you can follow PagalGuy on web.

For Video Lectures and practise questions, you can follow Edusaathi on the web and Youtube.

After that give 10-15 Mocks which will help you to access your standing. Do NOT give a new mock before analysing the previously give mock thoroughly. You may choose to join a coaching institute for regular classes in case you are not feeling up to the mark. If you have covered your fundamentals well, you can always hit your preparation at your coaching centre with full force. You would be able to enjoy your classes and demand good quality from them. It would also help you to access your own strengths and weaknesses related to the CAT exam.

Having said that, it is the teacher/ Mentor which is going to help you the most. So it will be your mentor who will be helping you down with the way of your preparation and helping you through all discouragements also. Good Mentorship is the only MOST IMPORTANT thing in any exam preparation. Find a suitable mentor to help you through your journey!!!

Hope it helps!!!
