I want to give gate exam using pwd quota, but currently i dont have pwd udid certificate. So i was thinking i should give gate exam with general reservation for now. but i have question that when applying for psu jobs, will here i be able to apply for pwd quota?
Hello Neha,
Yes, you can still apply for PSU jobs under the PwD quota later, even if you give the GATE exam under the general category for now. The GATE exam itself doesn’t restrict you from applying to jobs under a different category later, as it only reflects your score and rank, not your category.
When applying for PSU jobs, you'll have the option to apply under the PwD category, provided you have the valid UDID certificate by then. Just make sure to obtain your PwD UDID certificate before the PSU job application process begins. The key is having the certificate at the time of applying for jobs, not necessarily during the GATE exam. This way, you can still avail all the benefits of PwD reservation during the job application process.
So, it's okay to give GATE under general reservation now, as long as you plan to get your PwD certificate before applying for jobs.
After the declaration of your GATE result if you want to check the list of colleges in which you can get admission then,
I would recommend you to use GATE college predictor tool by Careers360 to get the list of possible colleges you can get with your rank.
Here is the link to the tool:
Click on the above link, fill the required details and you will get the list of possible colleges at your rank.

Yes, you can apply for PSU jobs under the PwD quota even if you give the GATE exam as a general category candidate. The GATE score is used primarily for shortlisting candidates, and your category during the exam doesn't limit your options for job applications. However, to avail of the PwD quota benefits when applying for PSUs, you must possess a valid PwD UDID certificate at the time of job application.
When applying for PSU jobs, they will require category documentation, and you can submit your PwD certificate at that stage to claim reservations and benefits. Many PSUs have separate categories for PwD candidates, and you can apply under the appropriate category once you obtain the certificate. Ensure that your UDID certificate is ready by the time you start applying for jobs, as it is mandatory to claim the quota. Therefore, while it's fine to appear in GATE as a general candidate now, securing the PwD certificate is crucial for PSU job applications.
hope this helps you!!
