I wanted to understand the religious minority. If I belong to GM category but a muslim, can I still claim the religious minority quota.

Minority status is a protective measure and not a reservation scheme (Quota). Muslims fall under the General Category. However certain communities which are under SC when Hindu, are provided OBC reservation when Muslim or Christian.
