If I have got 1st choice as alloted seat, can I choose float option ? I am unsure becoz there is no choice preceding the 1st choice(that is obvious) and chosing float means waiting for getting higher preferences ansd this is not the case. Also, I want to know if I go for float,Will I lose my seat?

First of all you must mention the counselling name that in which you have understand that what float means.
FLOAT - this options means that you have accepted the seat, but you want to get a higher preference branch or higher preference college in further rounds and if you Will get them, you will accept it and your previous seat will be forfeited.
Now even if you got no seat in further rounds then your previously alloted seat will remain with you ( if you had paid the seat acceptance fees ).
Now as you got your great preference branch, then there is no use of float. Because there is no other higher preference option than your alloted seat ( as per your college preference order).
But as this was your first option, then you can't use float. And in general, if you ever go for float then, no, you will not lose your currently alloted seat.
Hi. You cannot use float as an option if you get the first choice itself. You need to fill the choices carefully since if you get the first option itself then there is no scope of getting higher preferences . Because as per you, your highest preference is the first choice itself . And you won't lose your seat even if you opted for the float option.
Hope that it clears your doubt,
Regards.
