PGD is a post graduate diploma cause. It is not equivalent to a postgraduate or masters degree in terms of qualification although the academic level is somewhat similar. It can be vocational or academic.
according to online resources Post Graduate diploma in management (PGDM) as well as PGP ( Post graduate Programme) is a management course with a commercial Orientation, just like MBA. The core syllabus is pretty much same in both of them.
Hello Aspirant,
PGP stands for Post Graduate Programme
PGDM stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Management
PGD stands for Post Graduate in Diploma
PGP or PGDM is a Post Graduate Program/Post Graduate diploma in Management offered by Institutions approved by AICTE but not affiliated to any university, like IIMs.
PGDM expands to Post Graduate Diploma in Management, while PGP is Post Graduate Program Diploma. And all the confusion starts when you see the term Diploma. Yes, you read it right – this is Diploma and not exactly a degree in technical terms. The main reason why postgraduate courses are named as PGDM is because when an Institute is an autonomous body (not affiliated to any University) and conducts management courses, then such Institutes cannot offer MBA degree. Even IIMs, XLRI’s doesn’t offer MBA degrees; they only give PGP Diploma.
