If we compare the vigorous hardwork of competition such as IIT-JEE to post graduate admission to universities such as MIT,Harvard,Stanford etc..Which is tough and why? What are the steps for an Indian Engineering Graduate to get admission into MS/PhD into Stanford,Harvard etc??

Hello Dhruv,

If we need to compare the acceptance rate of iit's with top ivy league schools, it is much easier to enter into ivy leagues schools like harvard,mit because their acceptance rate is 5% whereas acceptance rate of iit is nearly 1percent. So absolutely getting seat in iit is very tough compared to getting seat in top universities like harvard, mit etc. As mentioned here, top test scores doesn't guarantee admission in mit or harvard. The following steps are essential to be followed in order to get into top ivy league colleges

  1. Comparitively good Gre and Toefl scores( Above 320 in gre and 110 in toefl).
  2. Stellar academic credentials( anything about 8cgpa in bachelor's)
  3. Great Lor(Letter of Recommendation) and excellent Sop(Statement of Purpose)
  4. If possible, some research papers and internships.

These all conditions are taken into account while selecting an student
