If we do MBBS from a state, are we eligible for that particular state quota even when you belong to different state ? If yes, in which states there is such criteria?
Hi,
Admission process to MBBS involves two ways.
Firstly, an AIQ quota seats for 15% mbbs seats all over India.
Secondly, 85% seats of your respective State quota.
However, if one candidate decides to opt a college through 15% AIQ in any other state, then he/she is no more eligible for the respective state quota for admission to further studies like MD/MS.
But it may be noted here that the college opted must have internal quota as most of the candidates do decide to pursue Masters from the same college.
As the student to pg seat ratio is very high resulting in failure of getting a desired speciality branch, this internal quota system serves as a life saver.
There are some medical colleges which have the advantage of internal pg :
Institute of Medical Sciences,(BHU)
Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh
MGIMS, Wardha
AFMC, Pune
JIPMER, Pondicherry
VMMC, Delhi
AIIMS
so, yes your desired college MGIMS do offers internal quota for pg students.
So, if one decides to get admission in any otjer state, it doesn't offer the state quota to the candidate, but you are still having a better choice of having internal quota there.
