The Common Entrance Test ( CET )
is a competitive exam conducted for the purpose of admission of students to the first year or first semester of full-time courses in medical, dental and engineering courses in professional colleges the various states of India.
The professional colleges in the state offering such courses are affiliated with the state run universities and admit students through the CET annually. The fee structure varies from year to year.
Common Entrance Test
A professional college in the country can admit only those students who have succeeded in the test. Institutes affiliated to state universities can admit candidates selected through CET. There are multiple options that a student can vie for after clearing Class XII exam, but every institute can admit only restricted number of students. Consequently, competition level of these entrance exams is set high, so only the deserving candidates are selected.

JEE – This is an all India level CET, conducted by CBSE to grant admission in the engineering or technical institutes like IIT’s and IIST.
BITSAT – It is an entrance test conducted by Birla Institute of Technology and Science for admission to various engineering streams.
AICommon Entrance Test
– This is a national level entrance exam administered by CBSE for admission into the country’s medical and dental colleges.
AIIMS – All Class XII science stream students are eligible to sit for the national level medical entrance exam conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
NATA – It is a country level National Aptitude Test in Architecture, conducted by the Government of India for admissions to architecture courses after Class XII.
NCHMCT – The admissions to various hotel management institutes of the country is managed by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology. All national, state and private hotel management colleges grant admission to only those students who qualify this test.
CLAT – The national law varsities deem only those students eligible for admissions to law courses who qualify the Common Law Admission Test.
NIFT test- National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts an entrance test at national level to allow entry to its design and fashion technology courses.
CPT – The governing body of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India conducts the Common Proficiency Test. The student who clears three levels of the test can work as an independent Chartered Accountant in future.

EAMCET – The state of Andhra Pradesh conducts entrance test for admissions to engineering, agriculture and medical colleges in the region.
KEAM – Kerala government conducts a state level entrance exam for admissions to courses in engineering, architecture and medicine.
