After your 12th grade you can do graduation in any field from any recognised university and can start your civil services preparation.

Good Luck

Hello Aspirant, in order to become an IAS officer, you must apply for Civil Services Exam(CSE) conducted by the UPSC. You must also crack the exam (preliminary, mains and interview) in order to get selected for the training.

The basic eligibility criteria required to appear for this exam is- candidate must possess Graduate degree from a recognised University/institute. So technically, 12th passed students can't appear for this exam right after 12th. However, you may start off CSE preparation by focusing on current affairs, making notes (related to current affairs) and reading newspaper daily. Also having Arts as a subject may help you in further preparations.

Best of Luck!

Dear Aspirant,

Nice you have chosen a good place to serve our India.

And you are a deserving candidate also.

I must that you have chosen a good career option not because of its IAS or IPS but for the interest on subjects you have.

Now I will answer to your question.

IAS Exam or UPSC Civil Services Exam is conducted in 3 successive stages- Prelims, Mains and Interview test. The Prelims stage is an objective test of 200 marks whereas Mains is subjective one.

In Mains there will be in total 7 papers. And at last you will have a Interview test.

PRELIMS - GENERAL ABILITY TEST(GAT) (PAPER-1)--   200MARK

CIVIL APTITUDE TEST(CSAT)(PAPER-2)--200 MARKS

MAINS - PAPER-1 ---250 MARKS

PAPER-2 ---250 MARKS

PAPER-3 ---250MARKS

PAPER-4 ---250 MARKS

PAPER-5,PAPER-6 AND PAPER-7 ----250 MARKS

INTERVIEW TEST - 275 MARKS

TOTAL--- 200+200+7*250+275=2425 MARKS

Preparation:

First, you have to download or arrange previous year question papers and solve them with great honesty. Follow the news daily. Focus more on logical reasoning. Take online test series. Read magazines about economy, business, politics, finance, etc.

Do make short notes for your convenience.

Along with it do study from your own textbooks along with some standard books which you will easy find them online.

Before exam night take a chill pill and get a good sleep.

Next day crack the exam....

Best wishes for your exam

May you pass your exam with flying colors.

Hii, hope you are doing good.

Now firstly IAS is the short form of Indian Administrative Service. Once selected a person can work for many roles like collector, commissioner, head of public sector units, cabinet secretary.

You have to sit for UPSC that is Civil services exam. It contains three stages

Prelims

Mains

Interview

Getting into it is not easy considering the competition involved, but not impossible for a candidate with right attitude and approach.

Hope you fulfill all your dreams. Best wishes
