If you want to be an IAS ,then choose a college where attendence are too much required.
Yes it is true that many IITans crack UPSE in 1st attempt.but your aim is fixed from now.
so I thing instead of westing 4 years in engineering, you should focus on your UPSE Prepartion .
It will be helpfull for you.
even you should join a coaching centre after 12th exam.

After class 12, the eligibility criteria of an IAS officer is to obtain graduation in any discipline from a UGC recognized university. Bachelor degree is the minimum qualification required to apply for the civil service exam. There is no minimum percentage required to be eligible for this exam.
