At IIT, you are given an opportunity to change your branch after 2nd, 3rd and 4th semester. 'Branch change' system is there in every IIT. Top 1% or 2% students in every stream are given a chance to change their branch after their first year. Branch change is done on the basis of your CGPA/CPI. It is advisable to score as much as you can.
