The total fee consists of Tuition fee, caution deposit, placement fee, hostel fee, mess fee, etc. The tuition fee is uniform across all IITs, and course fee for B.tech program in IITs from 2018-19 is around Rs 2 lakh per annum for General and OBC category students. The SC/ST/PWD candidates will not have to pay fee, and the most economically backward students from General and OBC category whose family income is less than 1 lakh per annum will get 100% relaxation in the course fee and the other economically backward students whose family income is in between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh will get a relaxation of 2/3rd of course fee.
so, at present situation SC/ST candidates will have to pay no fee.
