Yes, it is possible in most of the NITs. But to get your desired branch, your CGPA after the first year has to be among the top 5% percentage students of your target branch. It is tough as the CGPA required is pretty high, more than 9 depending upon the desired branch,

Suppose your current branch is Biotech and you want CSE, then at the end of the first year, you CGPA should be same as that of the top 5% students in CSE.
