Is CLAT necessary to become a judge or can we become a judge without appearing for the CLAT?

CLAT is not necessary to become a judge.

CLAT stands for Common Law Entrance Test which is for taking admission in different law universities for integrated law courses like BA LLB,BCom LLB and BBA LLB.

These law courses are of 5 years (full time).

If you don't want to appear for CLAT ,you can do graduation in any course like BSc,BA,BTech,MBBS,BCom,BCA,etc.

After that you can study LLB and after completing your LLB you become eligible for giving different Judicial Exams.

Students prefer integrated course because it is only of 5 years. If you study any undergraduation course and study LLB after that,it would still take minimum 6 years.

To become a judge you need to qualify Judicial Service Examination of the respective states.
