is graduation marks matters in nimcet and cat and top institutes admission
In order to attempt CAT the candidate must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. Therefore, graduation marks are definitely important even to attempt the exam.
Are good marks important? What percentage is good in graduation?
Top B-Schools, especially IIMs, generally consider the overall profile of the candidate along with the CAT percentile. The aggregate score of the candidate for admission is decided by giving weightage to 10th, 12th, graduation percentages along with your CAT percentile and GD + PI scores. The weightage given to each of the sub-segments vary from college to college.
Some of the top IIMs even have a base cutoff for the percentage secured in graduation and therefore having a higher percentage always helps. Generally 80% is a safe score to obtain in order to ensure that you are eligible in the first place to each of the colleges you apply to including IIM A.
Even for NIMCET the minimum eligibility is 50% while the individual college admissions depends on the score decided by the college. Also the scores are compared with your peers. Hence, it is important to get a good graduation percentage.
Despite all these, if your CAT percentile, and GD and Interview are exceptionally well, you can be selected into some of the top B-Schools with normal graduation marks.
