Hello Rakesh,

Candidate must have 50% aggregate in Bachelor's Degree. There is relaxation of 5% in graduation marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates. So, according to it you are eligible for CAT exam.

Now answer ro second part of the question. For getting into top 50 Bschools you need to get 85%+ percentile in exam. This is the minimum I am suggesting. To get a good school you need to have very high score in exam. Set it as a bench mark and aim for higher than this.

I hope this helps you.

All the best!!

Hi Rakesh,

Your 10th and 12th percentage is not required for cat exam. You need to score above 50% in graduation.

However, your 10th, 12th as well as graduation marks are extremely important for getting shortlisted to various colleges. IIMs give a very heavy weightage on your past academic performances. Apart from that, you can take my word that even top 20 to 25 bschools lay equal weightage to all of your past academic performances.

Added to that, when you will be appearing for the final placements in your 2nd year of MBA, you might not be able to apply to maximum reputed MNCs as they have a shortlisting criteria that involves your past academic performances.

Analyze every factor and take a wise decision before appearing for any exam as just giving the exam is a baby step. After that there's an entire war to be fought and you are absolutely going to need necessary equipments for that.

Let me know in case you need further clarifications.

U Need to score around 85-99 percentage for good colleges admission

CAT is an exam where students score an enviable 100 percentile as well. It is not essential to get a 100%

Those who have secured a percentile of 90 to 100, can hope to receive calls from one of the top B-schools in India and fulfil their MBA dream.

B-schools with 98+ Percentile CAT Cutoff

IIM Ahmedabad  99+

IIM Bangalore  99+

IIM Calcutta  99+

IIM Lucknow  99+

IIM Indore  98+

DMS, IIT Delhi  98+

SJMSOM, IIT Bombay  98+

FMS, University of Delhi  98+

If your CAT percentile is between 95 and 98, you have a host of Tier I B-schools where you can apply

At one hand, if percentile range from 90-95 you can expect calls from the new IIMs and on the other hand, there are noted institutes like XIMB, Great Lakes Institute of Management and Goa Institute of Management to name a few.
