Yes it's a really good branch and in fact it lies just between ITs and Core branches so your placement opportunities increase. You can easily fit into both IT companies and core companies like automobile, construction or steel etc. ECE deals mostly with the hardware parts and sometimes the coding also. But try to do that from a good college that has many companies visiting its campus.

ECE combined with Computer science and IT had given rise to cell phones, super Computers, internet of things, etc.., ECE with help of mechanical can results in robots which increase productivity. ECE combined with medicals gives rise to better MRI, CT which helps to do it accurately and precisely. You can easy migrate into your career interests being an ECE graduate.
The subjects in this field offer that flexibility since it is evergreen and has Continuous development here. Now a days, from every 8 out of 1 engineer passing out is an electronics engineer. You can either work in hardware or software as well.So, this has its own recognisation among all the branches !!
