Hey aspirant,
Hope you are doing great.
No, it is not necessary to give JEE for B.Tech in Computer science.
JEE is the entrance exam for taking admission in NITs and IITs. But if a students don't want to apply for NITs and IITs then they dont have to give JEE exam they just can give University exams that are conducted by several universities and also can take admission in private university.
There are other entrance exam for B.Tech in Computer science that are BITSAT, VITEEE, SRM, LPU etc.
Hope this helps you.
Hello,
Joint Entrance Examination is not the only exam to give for B.Tech in CSE there are many exams that you can give for B.Tech in CSE. But if you want to the course in NIT then you need to give JEE Mains and if you want in IITs then JEE Advanced. There are various other exams you can give like state exams such as MHT CET or TSEAMCET and so on for admissions in State colleges. The application for JEE main 2022 is not yet declared. NTA will soon announce the JEE Main 2022 application form release date. Please click the below link to know more about JEE main.

Hello Aspirant,
JEE exams are only necessary for admission to engineering courses offered by IITs/NITs/IIITs, some CFTIs, some GFTIs and also for some private institutions but it is not like if you do not appear for JEE exams then you cannot take admission in B.Tech. course for CSE branch. Some private institutions conduct their own entrance examinations as well like VIT Vellore conducts VITEEE, SRM conducts SRMJEE, BITS Pilani conducts BITSAT and similarly many other institutions conduct their own entrance examination as well for engineering courses.
But if you are seeking admission in top notch engineering institutions like IITs/NITs then JEE-Main and JEE-Advance are mandatory to exams to appear for.
To appear for JEE-Advance one needs to qualify JEE-Main and for JEE-Main eligibility criteria is mentioned below :-
- There is no age limit to appear in JEE-Main but note that there might be the age limit in any particular institution taking admission through JEE-Main score, so you should keep this thing in mind.
- To be eligible for JEE-Main one should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics as mandatory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject from any of the recognized central or state board.
- For JEE-Main 2022 only those candidates who have passed Class 12 / equivalent examination in 2020, 2021 or 2022; or those who will be appearing in Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2022, would be eligible to appear.
So if you follow all above criterion then you are definitely eligible for JEE-Main.

Hello aspirant,
Hope you are doing great. Yes, it is necessary to give IIT JEE, because if you see, many of the colleges and universities across India are accepting the JEE score, as a criteria to get admission into the university. It is essential to give the exam.
Also, in an alternate, you may not give the exam, because there are universities, where you don't need JEE score, instead you need to give the entrance exams, also, state colleges also, accept the state exams i.e., Common Entrance Tests conducted by each state. It is up to you to choose.
Hope it helps !
Good luck, Thank you :)
