is it necessary to have Sanskrit as a subject in 12 to do ba Sanskrit from du ?

See if you want to do graduation from du in ba sanskrit then the basic eligibility is you must have passed class 12 and meet their cut offs for ba sanskrit.

As there is the availability of ba hons sanskrit so as of now rule if you want to do hons then you must face the minimum deduction of 2.5-5% from your total aggregate percentage and after deduction your percentage will be getting calculated.

So yes you can study ba hons sanskrit from du even if you don't have sanskrit in +2.

Basic eligibility criteria to pursue BA(Hons.) in Arabic/Bengali/Persian/Punjabi/ Sanskrit /Urdu from Delhi University-
  • An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Applicants securing 40% marks in the aggregate and 50% marks in the subject concerned are also eligible for admission to the relevant Honours Course.
  • The merit shall be determined on the basis of one language and three best academic/elective subjects.
  • Applicants who have passed the intermediate Examination of an Indian University/Board with at least 40% marks in the aggregate and also one of the following examinations mentioned above shall be eligible for admission to the respective subject of the Honours Course given below:
-Maulvi Fazil in Arabic
-Prabhakar in Hindi
-Munshi Fazil in Persian
-Gyani in Punjabi
- Shastri in Sanskrit
-Abid Fazil in Urdu.
  • For admission to Honours in any language course, advantage of 2% in the Best Four percentage will be given to those applicants who have studied that particular elective language.
  • In case the applicant has not studied a language at qualifying exam and is seeking admission to Honours in that language, deduction of 5% will be imposed on 'Best Four' Percentage.

see its not mandatory to have the particular language paper in 12th course to study it in bachelors level. the eligibility criteria to apply for b.a in sanskrit in delhi university is as follows,

  • An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
