Dear Student,
Pharm D stands for pharmacist doctor. It is a programme leading to a postgraduate doctorate. Bachelor of Pharmacy is abbreviated as B Pharmacy. It is a Bachelor's Degree course at the undergraduate level.
Another programme is called D pharm, which stands for Diploma of Pharmacy (D .Pharm).
PHARM D SCOPE IN INDIA :
In the US and other nations where pharmacists are permitted to conduct clinical pharmacy, pharmacists earn higher salaries than other professionals. The patient is sent ahead to the pharmacist with a diagnosis report after being diagnosed by a doctor or physician (who is specifically prohibited from prescribing medications). The patient can be prescribed by a pharmacist, who typically charges more than a doctor. In the beginning, the average wage in the USA is 40–50 USD per hour or higher.
For the academic year 2008–2009, the same course, known as "Pharm D," is also established in India. The supreme authority overseeing the course is the Pharmacy Council of India. Although clinical pharmacy is not yet fully recognised in India, it is certain that after passing the NAPLEX, one has the best and brightest career prospects in the US. There may also be greater opportunities for the course in India in the future.
An undergraduate or postgraduate Pharmacy degree from an accredited university is the fundamental prerequisite for pharmacists to be considered for registration. To obtain a Master of Pharmacy, most countries require a four- or six-year length of study (M Pharm). To become a licenced pharmacist in the United States, students must complete a Doctor of Pharmacy degree after completing four years at an accredited college of pharmacy (the majority of students applying for admission to a college of pharmacy already have an undergraduate degree, but many schools admit students after completing two years of prerequisite undergraduate pharmacy courses or right out of high school into a six-year accelerated programme). Anyone who earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy prior to this date is grandfathered and eligible to register.
Summary - There is now no scope for pharmd in India, and the course is only PCI authorised rather than AICTE approved. People who have completed a Pharm.D. search for employment but are not successful. It has better scope in the US or any other foreign country.
Currently, PharmD has no scope in India, but that may change in the future. You can, however, try your luck abroad, where PharmD has a lot of potential after PharmaD.
Hope this helps you.
Good luck.
