Hello aspirant ,
I think you should think about it because except you no one know your capability .So first of all ask yourself you will find the answer. If it is worth it then, it is good. But, what if it is not? To avoid this question, one should pursue that career which one’s heart guides ignoring all the other factors like family, peers and society.
According to me it is worth to give one year for your preparation beacause as you know in the beginning of 12th , the aspirant has to concentrate both on boards and IIT. He cannot neglect either one of them. IIT is based on NCERT but, it requires a lot of hard work. There are a lot of models of questions that might be important for IIT but not for boards. So, after the beginning of 12th there is a war between boards and JEE. Some can make peace between both the parties. But, some cannot, in that case, if either one lose then it is a huge loss for the student .So know your capability and if you think you can mange both then go for or if you cannot then drop 1 year for preparation.
Hope it will help you ! Good luck !
