In JEE advanced exam you can maximum attempt up to 2 times.
Your first attempt is counted as over in your class 12th passing year and it doesn't matter that you have given your JEE advanced exam in class 12th passing year or not, still your first attempt is counted as over.
Now if you have taken drop and appeared for JEE advanced first time in 2020 then this was your last attempt and in 2021 you cannot give JEE advanced exam.
And if you are thinking that you can take second drop and once again give JEE advanced than sorry you are wrong, in second drop you will be only left with your third attempt of JEE mains and that will be your last attempt of JEE mains. Because in Jee mains you can give up to a maximum of three attempts and your first attempt is counted as over in your class 12 passing year, here also it doesn't matter whether you have given JEE mains exam or not. Your second attempt is over in your first drop that means if you have given JEE mains this year than this was your second attempt and lastly if you appear for jee exam in 2021 then you can only give Jee mains, not JEE advanced.
In simple words you can give JEE advanced only in your class 12th passing year and the next consecutive year.
And you cannot give jee advanced in 2021.
So if you are planning to take second drop then use it wisely and make it worth for a good nit.
