It used to applicable but now only National level entrance i.e. NEET is taken into for admission in Medical Field for MBBS or BDS. If you are domicle of Karnataka then you can use the state quote or home quota. But you have to appear NEET only.

Yes, you can get an MBBS college through KCET counseling but only through your NEET marks. You can also apply for Medicine and Homeopathy courses through KCET. The cutoff for medical colleges is very high so you need to have a good score in NEET to get a college.

For admission to MBBS you have to appear in either NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test), AIIMS - MBBS entrance (All India Institute of Medical Sciences - MBBS entrance) or Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research MBBS Entrance Exam (JIPMER MBBS). These exams are held across the country. So if you are aiming for 2019. You need to appear in the entrance exams for the same. The last date for filling up the form for NEET 2019 is 7th December 2012. For AIIMS - the basic registration is in progress and the last date is January 3, 2019. For JIPMER entrance exam, the call for filling up the application form is 6th March 2019.
