Is pursuing BA hons. is necessary to become an IAS Officer?
No.Not at all !
You can pursue your graduation in any stream and course and yes,you are eligible to give the UPSC Exam.
It doesn't matter if the student has done BA ,BCom,BBA,BCA,MCA,BTech etc. He/she is eligible to give UPSC CSE.
Actually BA hons. have subjects like History, Geography, Economics, Political Science, Sociology,etc which helps students during UPSC Preparation.
Eligibility Criteria for UPSC CSE
i.The candidate has to be a citizen of India.
ii.Must be graduated from a recognised university.
iii.Must be 21+ years on 1st August on the appearing year of UPSC Mains.
