Is there any disadvantages in doing mbbs from private medical college?

The first and foremost disadvantage is the HIGH fee structure.

Secondly, you will not have a good clinical experience in a private college as compared to a govt. hospitals where there are large no. of patients with all sorts of diseases. Clinical practice is the core of medical education.

Thirdly, the student population that you meet in a government college have all come by acing NEET exam hence they will push you to do your best and competition is really high.

High Fee Structure; The major disadvantage of private medical colleges is their high fee structure. They create their fee structure without any rules and regulations.



There are some more problems other than fees;



Inexperienced faculty; in most of the private colleges of India the faculty are poor. Usually they are the graduates of the very own private college teaching students on medicine. We can count private medical colleges which have absolutely excellent faculty.



Poor infrastructure; the sad truth which most do not accept is that. Some of the private colleges do not have the necessary infrastructure to conduct day to day running of the college. There are colleges without a cadaver and I have seen a private college without a compound wall for its campus, although it was recently built after 20 years of inception.



Usually private colleges are situated in rural areas, as it allows the owners to expand according to their future requirements. Such colleges make a poor patients inflow and the travel time between the college to a nearest town also makes it a tedious job.



In some private colleges, there are absolutely excellent faculty and doctors in it hospitals, but it all will be gathered in the same department. For example a private medical college may have a great Cardiac Surgeon and almost all the patients are of malfunction of the heart which makes the students to not choose from a wide range of opportunities. In case of a government college you can see patients of various diseases and issues.



That is pretty much the main disadvantages I feel.
