A friend of mine graduated from one of the top engineering colleges in kerala and went on to take her masters from Indian institute of space and technology. She got placed with Mercedes Benz and currently works as an engineer in their research and development team. Yes of course there still is scope for engineers. It all depends on the way you look at it. After graduating in an engineering course, you can go for higher studies like M.Tech and Ph.D which will help you get either in research field or in teaching field, depending on your interest. You can give gate examination and based on its score you can get into power sector or engineering services. There are also new projects coming up in engineering field these days like metro, railway, power plants, etc.
