It is an government college but why they are asking fees

Please specify which college and course are you talking about.
If I speak in general then there is no college that provides free of cost studies. Yes in government colleges, the fees is comparatively less than that of a private or deemed ones, But they also do charge fees.
If no fees will be charged, how is the college going to run then.

I don't know which college are you talking about..But every government college do take fee.The difference between private and government college in terms of fee is private college takes high fee when compared to government..
