Hi Sekhar,

The main factor that needs to be considered while differentiating between two branches is the PLACEMENTS.

Based on the 2018 Placement statistics of Jadavpur, 88.57% of the Chemical branch students got placed and 86.59% of Mechanical branch students got placed.

The Average package for Chemical was 5.92 LPA and the average package for the Mechanical branch was 5.70 LPA.

The Highest package for Chemical was 17.20 LPA and the highest package for the Mechanical branch was 16.80 LPA.

Therefore, the Chemical branch is slightly better than Mechanical in Jadavpur.

Hope this helps you.

All the best!!!

Hi Candidate,

Jadavpur university is one of the top universities in Kolakata. It has a very impressive rating of 4.4/5. I suggest you to prefer Mechanical over Chemical. Mechanical engineering department has good scope and the placements are also very impressive with good packages. All the best.
