Hello Shantanu,

To join Merchant Navy either in Deck Department or in Engine department you first need to give IMU CET conducted by Indian Maritime University every year. After clearing that you have to go for the counselling to get admission into the colleges of IMU and to get in any College affiliated to it you have to apply separately by going on their site.

The eligibility criteria of IMU-CET is you should have passed 12th with minimum 60% in PCM and should have scored minimum of 50% in English.

Also, after clearing the exam you have to go for Medical conducted by D.G. shipping approved Doctors in different cities. For Deck Department there is no relaxation with the eyesight it should be 6/6 without glasses and for Engine department it can be around 6/18 or 2.5 without glasses.

Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any query.
