MBA or MS which is better after Mechanical engineering?

From practical point of view, An MS helps you improve your current technical competence - this could be finance, engineering or even management science.

The focus is more on exams, paper writing and getting into a technical job.



An MBA meanwhile can be to switch careers and move to non-engineering for you, fastrack your current role/career or just move into a management role. The MBA focus is more about the network, the experience and getting a job.



Some of the reasons why you can choose MBA after Btech are:

• Technical Managers are in demand and most of the IT outsourced companies were looking for people with the combination above
• Less of interest in technical field and want to try the management side/field.
• If you have to have your own startup, you have to do MBA, this was a mindset a few years ago

Now if you have some other reasons and have interest in technical field then I would say continue with technical.

With Btech degree and further masters in it you can get into government jobs, even to do PhD, most of them wants to do PhD and M.Tech helps in providing a platform to explore the course based skills and researched based skills which can be used as a platform for the future.



So actually depends upon your interest and goals.
