My interest is in mech. Engineering. Should I opt for production & industrial branch at nit kurukshetra?
Dear Akshay, If you are in a dilemma of whether to choose a better institution or branch then what you need to do is close your eyes , take a deep breath, drink your coffee if you have it right in front of you otherwise go and make one and then choose the institution. NIT KKR is one of the oldest and famous engineering institutes in the Northern region of the country and it does certainly have its fair share of perks.
PIE ( Production and Industrial Engineering) in NIT KKR is a fusion of both Mechanical and industrial engineering. You get to learn almost all the subjects that are taught to the Mechanical Branch and by the same set of professors. There are a few subjects that are specifically taught to the PIE students in order to increase their understanding of the industrial sector. PIE open the gates in both core and non core mechanical engineering making it optimal choice for students, as the interest of maximum students changes over time when one actually starts to immerse in the subjects and workshops.
If you are thinking of going for higher studies like MBA then PIE is the right choice as its coursework includes the subjects that gives you a brief idea about Organizations working , Business Management and basic economical aspects. With the knowledge of Industrial engineering you can also go for product management.
So, being a fusion of mech. and industrial and the advantage of learning about business management makes this field more diverse and opens the gate of opportunities.
All the best
Hope this helps
