See ur son has got too low marks to bag a sat in any of the NITs for his btech career. He should be opting for some other state college or private institution for his further studies. He can also take a drop for one year and practice rigorously to fetch a good marks next year.

Sorry to say, but for a rank above 300k and 33 percentile , it is almost impossible for your son to get a seat in any of the NITs.
If he is a general candidate, then there is no chance for him to get any NIT with this score. But for reserved categories, chances slightly increase that depending on his luck, he might land up on a seat in some of the new NITs, but that, would be based on sheer luck and also, he won't be able to get the highly demanded core branches there.
