Hi, First of all you must be prepare to shell out a lot of money. becoming a pilot is not cheap in India. I think around 60 lakhs is the estimate to become a commercial pilot as it involves flying hours and licenses.A science student can get in with a minimum of 60%. He should apply to the various aviation schools (check DCGA for the authorized ones), write their entrance exams and then get a medical certificate as required. The entrance exam tests his knowledge - plus 2 based, check for the hand, eye co-ordination and multitasking capacities. He has to do the course and get the requisite training as well as flying hours of 250 hours.then he has to apply for the commercial pilot license. Since this is given generally for smaller aircraft, he has to move on to the bigger ones for which he can join Indigo's cadet pilot programme which is the training for this. He may have to join Indigo after this. I would advise not to go for foreign ones as the license is not valid in India. If he appears and qualifies for AFCAT, he can join the Airforce which takes care of everything. This is the other alternative.
