Hello Jyoti,
CAT is held in the month of November whereas the interview process starts in the month of March the next year. So as you are currently in the final year of your bachelors you can appear for the CAT in the coming Nov month. Now it is June month and you still have almost 6 months for the preparation of the exam. 4-5 hrs daily are sufficient for CAT preparation if you are religiously following the schedule.
There are 3 sections in CAT viz, VARC, DILR & Quant.
For VARC you need to develop reading habit and you should read diverse topics such as science, business, sociology, psychology, etc.
For DILR you need a lot of practice of solving sets within the time limit & for QA also first you need to clear the basics of the topics.
Apart from preparing for these sections, it is really important that you take mock exams. And after taking mock exams it is equally important to analyze them. Because this will tell you which are your weak areas and which ones are strong and knowing this you can further work on them.
It will be good if you are able to crack the exam this year as you will be considered as fresher & being from Non-engineering background will always help you as the top b-schools are looking for diversity.
So, the early you start, the more beneficial will it be.
All the best.
