Hello student,

You should follow the steps

Step 1 - Registration for the counselling: Students had to register in online mode for participating in the JoSAA 2020 counselling. Registration process included filling the online registration form by providing the JEE Main 2020 registration number and password. Students could also modify their password and contact details at this stage.

Step 2 - Choice Filling and Locking of Choices: After completing the registration, students had to login and fill choice of colleges in order of their preference. Filling of choices had to be done within the stipulated time interval in order to be considered for JoSAA counselling 2020. Students were provided a time interval of ten days to fill and lock their choices.

Step 3 - JoSAA Mock Allotment 2020: The JoSAA authority also conducted two rounds of mock seat allotment before the final date of choice filling and locking for those candidates who completed JoSAA counselling registration. Mock seat allotment was conducted to help students understand what colleges they might be getting based on the choices filled by them. Students could also modify their filled choices based on mock seat allotment. Students must note that they were not allowed to modify the choices after locking of choices and after completion of last date of choice filling and locking.

Step 4 - Seat Allotment: The authority announce seat allotment result online for candidates who completed JoSAA counselling registration 2020. Students have to login using their application number and password to check the seat allotment status of JoSAA counselling 2020. Students have the option of either accepting the the allotted seats with not willing to participate in the next round or accept with willing to participate in next round or reject the allotted seat with not willing to participate in the next round counselling.

Step 5 - Payment of Seat Acceptance Fees and Download of Provisional Seat Allotment Letter: Students who will be allotted a seat have to download their seat allotment letter. Students have to login using their application number and password for downloading their seat allotment letter. After downloading the allotment letter of JoSAA 2020 counselling, students have to pay Rs.35,000 as seat acceptance fees ( Rs15,000 for reserved category). Fees can be paid in online mode or through e-challan.

Step 6- Reporting to the Reporting Centres: Candidates have to visit the reporting centres for document verification. Candidates have to carry all their original documents along with two sets of xerox copies. The officials in reporting centres will verify the original documents and will submit the xerox copies. Students will be issued the acknowledgement letter post document verification. Candidates must note that it is compulsory to report at the reporting centres for documents verification within dates specified in allotment letter failing which the admission will get cancelled. The complete list of all documents required while reporting centres is as follows

Step 7- Confirmation of Admission: Students have to finally report to the allotted institute for the confirmation of admission. The last date for reporting to the allotted institute will be mentioned in the seat allotment letter. Students have to report to the allotted institute within specified dates failing which their admission will get cancelled.

Hope this will help

Thank you

Dear candidate,

There are three options available in each round:

  • Freeze : If the candidate is satisfied with the seat allocated and is not interested in participating in further rounds of seat allotment, he or she can accept it. That will be taken as freezing an option.

  • Float : In case, the candidate accepts the offered seat and wants to upgrade to a higher preferred seat it in any other institute, then he/ she will be required to select this option. If they fail to get the higher preferred seat, then they will have to continue with the currently accepted seat. Such candidates will be considered in further rounds of admission.

  • Slide : In case, if candidate accepts the seat offered and wishes to upgrade it to a higher preferred seat within the same institute, then he or she should opt for this.

After a seat has been alloted:

  1. Document verification takes place
  2. Pay the seat acceptance fees and keep the receipt.
  3. Reporting to the RC within the stipulated time.

All the best!!
