Hi Dear, VIT university is the most private engineering college in India.talking about rank criteria then according to previous years closing rank was 20000 for mechanical engineering in VIT vellore campus and 32,000 closing rank for VIT Chennai campus.
so better option will be civil engineering with your rank.
if you want to take admission in VIT campus then you have another option called management quota.
