What is WBJEE?
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a state-level exam conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). The exam gives a chance to students in seeking admission into B.Tech and B.Pharma courses at universities, government colleges and self-financing engineering & technical institutions in West Bengal. WBJEE 2020 was conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board in offline mode on February 2, 2020. This year, a total of 73119 students appeared for the exam out of whom 72298 are ranked. Out of the 72000 students who are ranked, 55154 are male and 17144 are female students.
WBJEE 2020 eligibility criteria-
WBJEEB has mentioned certain eligibility criteria for WBJEE aspirants. Candidates are required to comply with WBJEE 2020 eligibility criteria to successfully apply for the Joint Entrance Exam. Candidates failing to comply with the eligibility norms will not be allowed to appear for the exam. WBJEE eligibility criteria might vary for different courses and at the institute level.
Eligibility criteria for appearing in WBJEE 2020
Nationality-
The aspirant must be an Indian citizen
Age restriction
A candidate must be at least 17 years of age (as on December 31, 2019) to appear for the exam. This means an aspirant should have been born on or before December 31, 2002. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the WBJEE 2020.
However, for admission to the Marine Engineering Course, the lower age limit is 17 years as on December 31, 2020, and the upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2019.
WBJEE 2020 Eligibility criteria for B.Tech admissions
Aspirants should have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of listed below subjects as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects in regular class mode.
Chemistry
Biotechnology
Biology
Computer Science
Computer Application
Technical Vocational Subject
Aspirants must have secured a minimum 45 per cent marks (40 per cent in case of candidates belonging to reserved category such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
Candidates should have qualified English in 10+2 exam with at least 30 per cent marks.
The Board of the Qualifying Examination must be recognised by the Central Government or State Government concerned.
Counselling 2020-
WBJEE seat allotment 2020 results for each round will be released by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) along with the opening and closing ranks for all WBJEE colleges. Candidates can check their seat allotment results on the official website by submitting their registered login credentials. However, the WBJEE cut off (opening and closing ranks) will be available in a downloadable pdf format and does not require any login. Candidates who are satisfied with their WBJEE seat allotment result can make the payment of acceptance fee and report at the reporting centre for document verification. However, those who are not satisfied with their allotment can withdraw their candidature.
