Sir, i have PCB as a stream and I want to be an IAS officer, which graduation degree should I prefer , so that it could be beneficial for this exam?
Dear Vandita,
I will tell you pros and cons of taking any stream of graduation keeping in the mind that you have to become an IAS officer.
See, there is no hard and fast rule that you have to choose a particular stream in graduation to be eligible for UPSC, the exam through which you can be an IAS officer. The eligibility for becoming an IAS officer is to have the Bachelor's degree, no matter from which stream it is.
Now as you are from PCB background so if you take Bachelors of Arts thinking that syllabus are more related to UPSC in this stream then, all the things that you studied till 12th will not be used properly and not only this when you will go to take admission in any recognized University to take BA having Science background then they decrease 5% from your result while making merit list for the selection.
I hope that this will help you to choose the stream correctly.
All the every best!!
He graduated from IIT Bomaby and done his BTech from there.
Tina Dabi?
She has done BA hons.in political science from Lady Shree Ram College.
Arthika Shukla?
She has done MBBS.
So students of any stream can crack UPSC CSE through right decision and strategy.
Still you can opt for any social science courses or law courses beacause they are quite helpful during preparation.
The only eligibility UPSC needed is you must be graduated in any course and on 1st August (in the year you will give your mains)you must be of 21+ years old.
