NDA

NDA is the first opportunity that you would get to be a part of this esteemed institute. The eligibility criteria for Indian army is that you must complete class 12th or its equivalent examination in any stream from a well-recognized board. The age range for NDA is 16.5 years to 19 years. NDA comprises of written test which consists of two papers- Mathematics & General Ability test. These papers will have a time limit, as well as negative marking, so you need to complete it within stipulated period of time and guess work won’t work, thus you are required to do a lot of practice.

Please note: Only male candidates are eligible to write NDA exam

You can also join Indian Army after completing your graduation. Different paths that you can choose for applying in Army after graduation are as follows:

CDSE (Combined Defence Services Examination)

Irrespective of the stream you choose in class 12th, you are eligible to write CDSE examination. You can write this examination After graduation, you can write Combined Defence Service Examination (CDSE).Age limit for CDSE is 19–25 years.

University Entry Scheme (UES)

This entry is for engineering students. UES entry is for students who are pursuing Engineering and are in their Pre final year of graduation. Once you clear your written examination, you will be call for SSB (Service Selection Board) and after that there will be a Medical examination. After you clear all these stages, the training will commence at IMA (Indian Military Academy).

Application of UES are available from August to September every year.

Technical Graduate Course (TGS)

Technical Graduate course is applicable for both the candidates who are in the final year of Engineering as well as those who possess a degree. Therefore even if you are not prepared at the moment you can still apply for this post after completing your graduation. Training will take place in IMA after selection.

Application of UES are available from May to June.

Short Service Commission (SSC) Technical Entry

As the name suggests under this entry to get to serve in Indian army for a shorter period of time as compared to permanent commission. In Short service commission minimum serving period is for 10 years. Once selected training will take place in OTA (Officer’s Training Academy).

Application of SSC are available from December to January.
