Sir/Mam I qualified Gate 2018 with 71 marks in mechanical branch. But I didn't go for mtech in 2018 & 2019. Now I want to do mtech in iit in 2020.So will it be possible or iits firstly give preference to those who have qualified Gate recently?

Dear Puneet, GATE score is valid for 3 years. IITs do have their own selection procedure. The year in which you wrote your GATE isnt considered. Your GATE score, application profile and other criteria are considered for the shortlisting process.

Mam I asked the question because I was confused whether to appear for GATE again this year or not so as to ensure my admission in thermal engineering in Iit Ropar

puneet bansal You may appear for the exam. And the best of the 2 can be considered as your GATE score but IIT Ropar doesnt mention any preference for 2018 score candidates.
